She believes that the identification and nurturing of talent among women is critical for the future of global business and society in the 21st century. Her calling came when she went through a painful divorce and the experience did not just teach her many life lessons but exposed a flawed judicial system and regulatory environment. Today, Pial is on a mission to propagate a thousand female Societal Shapers in the public sector to push for meaningful and systemic change in the ASEAN region by 2030. Suri Kempe, Programme Manager at Musawah, a global movement for equality and justice in the Muslim family that works to advance human rights for women living in Muslim contexts.
A co-founder of Queer Lapis, and a co-conspirator of many different social justice projects globally, developed and implemented gender thematic programmes and integrated a gender perspective into the design and implementation of UNDP’s initiatives. In this episode, Suri and I will be discussing about the "Campaign for Justice in Muslim Family Law", an advocacy she's pursuing to and why it is critical now.
